WINERY TENUTA LUCENTE
Tenuta Luce is one of the highest wineries in Montalcino, with 350 to 420 meters of altitude. It covers 192 hectares of land, of which 77 hectares are planted with vines. While part of it was planted in 1977, the majority of the vineyards have been newly planted or replanted since 1997 with an average vine density of 6,100 vines per hectare. According to Frescobaldi, the well-drained Galestro soil, which is poor in organic matter, offers ideal conditions for growing Sangiovese at the higher altitudes. At lower altitudes, the soil is more clayey and thus particularly suitable for growing Merlot.
