MASTROJANNI WINERY

Making a Brunello with the fruit and elegance of a Bordeaux - this was the declared aim of former Roman lawyer Gabriele Mastrojanni. The lover of wines from the Bordelais region therefore founded an azienda south of the hill town of Montalcino in the most beautiful countryside not far from Castelnuovo dell'Abate and began making wine himself. Andrea Machetti has been Managing Director of the renowned estate since 1992 - initially for Mastrojanni and later for the new owner, the Illy family. The coffee roasters from Trieste took over the winery in 2008, having previously acquired the Italian chocolate manufacturer Domori and the Parisian tea house Dammann. Francesco Illy, one of four grandsons of the company founder, has been working in the picturesque Tuscan wine village since 1997.

Intense ruby red. On the nose notes of plums and blackberries with spicy and balsamic nuances. On the palate, compact and ripe tannins, stimulated by a fragrant acidity that leads to a long, tasty and persistent finish.
