WINERY KOLLWENTZ

"That's what makes the real greats among winemakers: whether it's a small or a grandiose vintage, you can always rely on them. Andi Kollwentz is the decathlete among Austria's winemakers, because he understands the most diverse disciplines and can be found in the top field in every category ...", writes Peter Moser of Falstaff Magazine about this traditional winery.
He is assisted by his father Anton Kollwentz. He, the pioneer of Burgenland, draws from a wealth of experience of more than 50 years of winemaking.
Blaufränkisch and Chardonnay are the dominant vines in the winery, which has been in existence since 1775. In addition to the meticulous viticultural work, the success of the Kollwentz family is probably also due to their vineyard property. The sites on the southern slopes of the Leithagebirge are among the oldest and best in the country.

Eichkogel is a cuvée of the traditional Großhöflein varieties Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt. In the Pannonian climate of Burgenland, the grapes ripen on the southern slope of the Leithagebirge to the highest quality. Matured in small oak barrels, Eichkogel combines the spicy berry fruit of Blaufränkisch with the velvety texture of Zweigelt.
