WINERY KOLLWENTZ

"That's what makes the real greats among winemakers: whether it's a small or a grandiose vintage, you can always rely on them. Andi Kollwentz is the decathlete among Austria's winemakers, because he understands the most diverse disciplines and can be found in the top field in every category ...", writes Peter Moser of Falstaff Magazine about this traditional winery.
He is assisted by his father Anton Kollwentz. He, the pioneer of Burgenland, draws from a wealth of experience of more than 50 years of winemaking.
Blaufränkisch and Chardonnay are the dominant vines in the winery, which has been in existence since 1775. In addition to the meticulous viticultural work, the success of the Kollwentz family is probably also due to their vineyard property. The sites on the southern slopes of the Leithagebirge are among the oldest and best in the country.

In 1569, the Kleinhöfleiner Ried Setz was first mentioned in a document as "Krapflried". It adjoins the Großhöfleiner Ried in an easterly direction. The southeast-facing Ried Setz enjoys full sunshine from early morning until late afternoon. High lime content offers Blaufränkisch the best ripening conditions. This special Blaufränkisch of our estate captivates with juicy cherry and licorice aromas as well as strong spicy notes.
