Château Potensac
CHATEAU POTENSAC
Château Potensac, located in the Haut-Médoc appellation, has been owned by the Delon family, who also own Château Léoville-Las-Cases, since 1870. Chateau Potensac covers an area of around 60 hectares, 60% of which is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% with Merlot and 15% with Cabernet Franc. The chateau has been classified as a Cru Bourgeoise since 2003 and the wines from Chateau Pontensac are very well known as top quality wines.
Two wines are produced on the estate today: The main wine, Château Potensac, and the second wine, Chapelle de Potensac, alluding to the chapel that stands directly in front of the winery building in the middle of Ordonnac. The first wine is made from the grape varieties Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Frac and a small proportion of Petit Verdot. The second wine is not refined with the last grape variety.
