Xur 2021

Founded in 2000, the grapes for two wines (three in particularly good wine years) are now grown on around 14 hectares, the classic Zweigelt from the Goldberg and the Cuvée XUR. The latter is the top wine from the Achs estate. The cuvée consists of Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, St. Laurent and a touch of Merlot from the best sites around Gols. The signature of Werner Achs in the vineyards is unmistakable, the exact pruning of the leaves, the third row of leaves, and the exact pruning of the grapes. Furthermore, Werner Achs uses only the best wooden barrels from France, some with really "heavy - toasting" as one may only do with great wines. This pays off, numerous awards and top rankings with XUR are the proof. Black forest berries meet dark cherries, nougat and vanilla. Powerful, complex and juicy paired with well-integrated tannins and pleasant freshness, the XUR offers a true drinking pleasure with Zwetschekn in the finish and a sweet aftertaste.
