Grüner Veltliner Löss 2023

Loess is typical for the soils of the Kamptal, so it is no wonder that the name of the Grüner Veltliner also reflects loess.

WINERY CASTLE GOBELSBURG

SCHLOSS GOBELSBURG is the oldest winery in the Danube region of Kamptal and can look back on a documented winegrowing history dating back to the 12th century. In 2021, Schloss Gobelsburg celebrates its 850th vintage of the time-honored domaine. Cistercian monks, received their first vineyards in 1171 and have had a lasting impact on viticulture in Austria over the past 850 years. Since 1996, the winery has been run by the Eva and Michael Moosbrugger family.
In the Krems Danube valleys there are two basic soil structures for the cultivation of white wine. On the one hand, there are the barren and stony terraced vineyards, where Riesling cultivation prevailed in the past century; on the other hand, there are the loessy, sandy soils, which are excellently suited for the cultivation of Grüner Veltliner.

On the nose, notes reminiscent of green tea and white pepper, also noticeable fine herbal spiciness, slim to medium-bodied on the palate, clear apple and pear fruit, fresh and juicy, on the point.
