WINERY REMELLURI

The Remelluri winery is one of the oldest in Rioja and belongs to Telmo Rodriguez. It is noteworthy that the winery has plots in two villages: Labastida Alava and San Vicente de La Sonsierra. The history of Remelluri dates back to the 16th century, when the name was first documented in connection with a wine shipment. At that time, the winery belonged to a monastery, and there is even a hermitage in the vineyards. In 1967, the estate was acquired by Jaime Rodriguez. In 2010 he left it to his children Telmo and Amaia. The full name of the estate is Granja Nuestra Senora de Remelluri.
The soils in Rioja Alavesa are predominantly clay with a high percentage of limestone. Remelluri itself is located at the foot of the Cantabrian mountain range near Labastida.
