WINERY KOLLWENTZ

"That's what makes the real greats among winemakers: whether it's a small or a grandiose vintage, you can always rely on them. Andi Kollwentz is the decathlete among Austria's winemakers, because he understands the most diverse disciplines and can be found in the top field in every category ...", writes Peter Moser of Falstaff Magazine about this traditional winery.
He is assisted by his father Anton Kollwentz. He, the pioneer of Burgenland, draws from a wealth of experience of more than 50 years of winemaking.
Blaufränkisch and Chardonnay are the dominant vines in the winery, which has been in existence since 1775. In addition to the meticulous viticultural work, the success of the Kollwentz family is probably also due to their vineyard property. The sites on the southern slopes of the Leithagebirge are among the oldest and best in the country.

Steinzeiler takes its name from the stony, chalky soils on the southern slopes of the Leithagebirge. Vines have been growing in these vineyards for 2800 years. Steinzeiler is a powerful red wine with elegance and charm from lovingly tended, vital vines. It comes from old selections of our best Blaufränkisch from the Point and Setz vineyards, as well as small portions of Cabernet Sauvignon and Zweigelt. Aroma of ripe berries, delicate roasted tones, dark fruits and expansive sweetness. Lots of ripe tannin, has depth, very balanced. Noble, heady bouquet.
