KAIKYO DISTILLERY

The Yonezawa family have been sake brewers since 1856. The family only began distilling in 1918, producing mainly local spirits such as shochu and neutral alcohol.
The still house, which is central to production, is currently being enlarged and moved to new purpose-built buildings within the site. It has two pot stills manufactured by Forsyths of Scotland (the world's leading manufacturer of whisky still for single malt).
The new building was named "The Kaikyo Distillery" after the Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge, located in front of the distillery. The company is proud of its heritage and origins and has also incorporated other historical aspects of its hometown of Akashi in Japan's Hyogo Prefecture into the imagery and branding of its new spirits.

The 135 East Japanese Dry Gin is equipped with typical Japanese botanicals. The classics juniper, angelica root and chrysanthemum coriander, are complemented by cedar, sake, yuzu, shiso leaf and the Sansho pepper. This well-balanced gin offers a diverse flavor palate. The nose is characterized by floral notes and a hint of citrus aromas.
Subtle spice notes harmonize with citrus and slightly bitter notes before the Sansho pepper warms the palate.
Medium-long, warm finish.
