DEER VINEYARDS
The Hirsch Winery is a gem that is a benchmark and indicator for Pinot Noir winegrowers on the West Coast: if you are interested in Pinot Noir from California, you cannot ignore the wines of the Hirsch Winery. The philosophy and practices in faraway California are very much based on the virtues of Burgundy. David Hirsch was the first to plant Pinot Noir vines - this was long before the Fort Ross Seaview was founded and registered as an AVA (own appellation). David Hirsch is therefore considered a pioneer in the West Sonoma region. He has a lightning-fast way of thinking and his humorous, pointed statements are inspiring. His daughter Jasmin Hirsch is about to take over the family winery and continue to run it.
