Rosé wine
Rosé wine (short: rosé) is a type of wine that gets its characteristic pink color from the contact of the red grape skins with the grape must during fermentation. Unlike red wines, however, the skins are left in contact with the must for only a limited time, giving rosé wine its light to intense pink color.
Rosé wine can be produced in several ways. The most common methods are direct pressing and the saignée method. In the direct pressing method, the grapes are lightly pressed to extract the juice without prolonged maceration with the skins. In the saignée method, part of the must is extracted from already vinified red wines and fermented separately as rosé wine.
Rosé wine is often served well chilled and is excellent as a summer wine or as an accompaniment to lighter dishes such as salads, seafood, grilled vegetables or light pasta dishes.
