WINERY SCHEIBLHOFER

It is located in Andau, in the district of Neusiedl am See, and with its 97 hectares of own land is one of the largest wineries in Burgenland. Known for the noble red wine "Big John", the winery was built up by Johann Scheiblhofer and taken over by son Erich Scheiblhofer in 2000.
Scheiblhofer is one of the pioneers in the field of sustainability and has been distinguished for years by its energy self-sufficient wine production. This is made possible by the photovoltaic system installed on the roofs of the farm buildings, which is the largest private photovoltaic system in Burgenland.

Situated in one of the most ideal wine locations in Austria and owning the most barrique barrels in the country, Scheiblhofer is also considered an important employer in the region.

Tasting note

The dense, dark violet color is very mysterious in the glass, but still reveals little about this menage à trois of grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignona hint of Pinot Noir and the Austrian Zweigelt. On the nose, Big John shows an intense bouquet of fruit aromas: dark cherries and dark wild berries dominate. These are joined, still more pronounced on the palate, by finely layered notes of wood maturity - especially toasty aromas and caramel. In the mouth shines the Big John shines in the mouth with all its splendor and fullness, while appearing extremely multilayered and velvety. An adventurer and a real firecracker, emphatic and insistent to the end.

The special wine from Burgenland

Burgenland is not California. But that does not make the cuvée of Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir from SCHEIBLHOFER is not valid. This wine goes all out and bluntly shows off everything it has to offer - including 12 months of aging in new American oak barriques. The fact that it does not remain with a simple pose is underlined by the undoubted reputation of Big John as an internationally known flagship of the winery from Andau.
